What to expect
From your first call to the certificate in hand.
Nothing about this day should feel uncertain. Here’s exactly what happens, in order.
01You call Donna
Donna books and coordinates every service personally. She’ll ask about your family, the vessel that fits, and the permit needed for LA County or Orange County, then hold a date.
02The basket is prepared
Before boarding, the crew lines a basket in cloth and lays rose petals above and below where the ashes go.
03A calm cruise out
About 1.5 hours total, most of it a gentle cruise across the harbor toward the Seal Beach pier or Surfside in Huntington Beach.
04The scattering
The basket is lowered into the water. The captain rings the ship’s bell eight times, then circles the site three times.
05The bell and the circle
This is the part families describe most: the bell, the quiet, the boat turning slowly around the place your person returned to the sea.
06Your certificate
You leave with a certificate noting the date, time, and exact GPS coordinates of the scattering: a place you can return to, even from a map.
